    Vessel Registration

    Registration and certification of ships under the Eritrean flag

    Eligibility for Registration

    Vessels owned, managed, or operated in accordance with Eritrean maritime law may be registered under the Eritrean flag, subject to compliance with applicable statutory, technical, and safety requirements. The Registry ensures that only vessels meeting prescribed standards of seaworthiness, safety, and environmental protection are accepted.

    Types of Registration

    Provisional Registration

    Temporary registration granted for a specified period pending completion of permanent registration requirements.

    Permanent Registration

    Full registration following completion and verification of all statutory and technical requirements.

    Change of Flag

    Registration of a vessel transferring from another flag state, subject to deletion certificate and compliance verification.

    Bareboat Charter Registration

    Registration on a bareboat charter basis, either bareboat-in or bareboat-out.

    Deletion from Registry

    Removal of a vessel from the Eritrean register upon request or where required by law.

    Certificates Issued

    Certificate of Registry

    Confirms the vessel's nationality and entitlement to fly the Eritrean flag.

    Continuous Synopsis Record (CSR)

    Provides a continuous record of the vessel's history.

    Minimum Safe Manning Certificate

    Specifies the minimum crew required for safe operation.

    Radio Station License

    Authorizes the operation of radio and communication equipment onboard.

    Tonnage Certificate

    Confirms the vessel's tonnage measurement.
